Litchfield Beach, south Carolina
Mackenzie + Cody | Sunrise Engagement Session
Over a year ago now, my husband and three little ones were in the car heading to Huntington Beach State Park. However, when we got there, it was already full, and we couldn't get in. So, we decided to drive down a little further to find a public beach access in Litchfield. And that's when we found my favorite little stretch of beach. Mackenzie and Cody were selected to test out the sunrise session on the beach, and I knew my favorite little stretch was the perfect place to take them. It's always quiet, never crowded. It's 3 am and my alarm goes off. I started a cup of coffee, jumped in the shower and got myself ready to drive the two hours to the beach that morning. I left the house around 4am to have plenty of time to make it there by 6:30. As I was driving, and only about 20 minutes from the beach, I could see the sky to my left get light. I had looked up the sunrise time and planned everything around that 6:18am sunrise. Apparently, the sky starts getting light well before the sun makes her debut for the morning. I remember driving thinking I surely have botched this session before it ever even got a chance to start, butI kept driving, looking out the window and whispering little prayers that the sunrise would hold out just a little longer. When we got there, it was a little windy and freezing cold, but the sunrise was absolutely perfect! These two were TROOPERS! I made them do all the silly things, like the scene from the notebook where Rachel McAdams runs like a bird down the beach. you know the one, "If you're a bird, I'm a bird" scene. These two were down to run, spin and twirl with outstretched arms for me to get the shot. The results... we'll we will let you decide. Take a look at a few of my favorites from their session and see how I did with my first sunrise session.
MacKenzie and Cody, thank you so much for making that early morning drive to the beach to let me be creative and try new things. I had a blast getting to photograph you two and I cannot wait to see how beautiful your destination wedding will be.
Xoxo,
Jordan
